Richmond Roadrunners solidified their first place standing in the B.C. Intermediate "A" Lacrosse League with a 13-12 victory over the visiting New West Salmonbellies at Minoru Arena.

The hosts got off to an impressive start, scoring four times before the game was even 10 minutes old, including three shorthanded. However, the Salmonbellies battled back with four of their own and the stage was set for an exciting evening of lacrosse.

Richmond looked to have taken control with a 13-9 lead in the final period but New West made things interesting with three unanswered goals to close out the contest.

First-year intermediate Cody Nass continued his torrid scoring pace with four goals and two assists to give him 46 points on the season. He also continues to be a regular call-up with the Delta Islanders of the B.C. Junior "A" Lacrosse League and managed six points, including a pair of goals, in a 16-7 win over Victoria last Saturday.

Jordan Gilles also had a big outing at both ends of the floor against the Bellies, finishing with three goals and two assists. Spencer Bromley and Brad Hoffman each added a goal and two helpers. Hoffman also was a force in the face-off circle.

Other goal scorers included Jonah Sahota, Alex Morghese and Connor Davidson. Wyatt Pinder had three assists. Ryan Vogrig and Marcus Quon each chipped in with a couple of helpers.

The Roadrunners, now 8-1 on the season, had a key game at Coquitlam (8-2) last night and travel to Burnaby on Thursday to meet the Lakers. They return home Sunday afternoon when the third place Victoria Shamrocks (83) visit Minrou at 2 p.m.
