One of the city's most popular anuual sporting events tips off this afternoon at the Thompson Community Centre.
The 27th annual Dolphin Classic 4-on-4 outdoor basketball tournament will feature 13 teams in the men's division and six in the women's division.
The X-Falcons will be looking to continue their dominance in men's play, having win four of the last five championships, including the past two years. Among the team's looking to knock them off their perch is Rich City, led by former Palmer star Vijay Dhillon who now plays at the University of Victoria.
Other teams include: Running Rebels, Triple Double, Team Fox, TRU, Rapid Motors, Top Guns, Champs, AIA, Monkeys, Birds and BC Ballers.
The women's division will feature Border Patrol, Storm, Old Birds, Birds, Cascades and TRU.
Action gets underway at 5 p.m. at both Thompson CC courts and runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. The women's final is slated for 5 p.m. on Sunday, followed by the 3-point shooting and always popular slam dunk contests. The men's final is slated for 7 p.m.
