Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning issued a statement today via Twitter thanking fans for supporting the team after more than a dozen players tested positive for COVID-19.

In the statement Benning says players, coaches and families are grateful for support while the team focuses on returning to full health. He doesn't state which or how many players are sick.

At least 14 players have tested positive over the past week, starting with Adam Gaudette on Tuesday. Now Travis Hamonic, Travis Boyd, Thatcher Demko, Bo Horvat, Jayce Hawyrluk, Tyler Motte, Tyler Myers, Brandon Sutter, Alex Edler, Braden Holtby, Quinn Hughes, Zack MacEwen and Antoine Roussel have all been added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list. One coach and member of the taxi squad are also on the list.

In addition, TSN's Darren Dreger tweeted this morning that more than 20 members of the Canucks' team and coaching staff have tested positive.

Vancouver is Awesome has reached out to the Canucks to learn more about the number and status of players and will update this story when new information is available.

Multiple games have been postponed due to the outbreak. On Thursday the NHL stated the Canucks games would resume Thursday, April 8, but it's unclear how the recent positive tests will affect that.
