Greater Vancouver Canadians are going to have to solve the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs if they hope to go far in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League playoffs.

Of the Canadians' 18 losses in league play, four came against the Chiefs as they swept the regular season series. Now Greater Vancouver hosts its nemesis in a best-of-three quarter-final match-up between the league's fourth and fifth place teams. Game one goes tonight at 7:45 p.m. and game two is slated for 4 p.m. on Saturday. If necessary, a deciding game takes place Sunday at 10 a.m. All three take place at the Richmond Olympic Oval.

The Canadians enjoy home advantage thanks to the Chiefs failing to gain enough ground during the final weekend of league play. After playing to a 7-7 draw with the Okanagan Rockets, the league's second place team rolled to a 7-3 victory last Sunday.

Greater Vancouver closed out its schedule a week earlier by taking three of four points from the Kootenay Ice.

The hosts cruised to a 10-0 victory in the opener as Victoria Royals prospect Dante Hanoun scored four times. Blake Hayward added a pair, while Braeden Gurney, Sean Gillespie, Gunnar Wegleitner and Josh Murphy also scored.
