Richmond's Camryn Rogers has set a new record at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The Kajaks alumnus threw 74.68 meters in her first and only toss at the qualifying round of the hammer throw event on Thursday morning.

Rogers told Athletics Canada that she had "a really good buildup" to the games and the "chance to really just hone in and focus."

It has only been barely two weeks since she won silver at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

"It's my first (Commonwealth) games, so lots of energy coming in," said Rogers.

Rogers will be competing in the finals on Saturday, Aug. 6.
