Burnaby Mountain Selects (BMS) Elite summer touring teams feature plenty of talent from Richmond.
Nine local products have been named to Selects rosters for highprofile tournaments south of the border.
Jon Bailey (Vancouver College), Brad Hoffman (McMath) and Josh Kelly (McMath) will be playing for the Boys Senior Elite Squad. Kieran McKay (McMath), Mark Sohota (McMath) and Dylan Miller (McNair) have been named to the Boys U15 Elite team. Nick Jensen (McMath) is a member of the Boys Junior Elite team, while Justin Preston (Quilchena elementary) is a member of the U13 Elite squad. Rounding out the selections is Melissa Caviglia (McNair) with the Girls High School Elite team.
Established in 2006 and now entering their 11th season; the Burnaby Mountain Selects are widely recognized as one of Canada's top field lacrosse development programs, combining excellence on the field, with the importance of academic achievement. The Selects Elite Touring model follows a similar template as a university lacrosse program, designed to train players in a high performance environment, with the objective of best preparing young student-athletes to play at the collegiate level.
The U13 and U15 Elite boys teams kicked off the summer tournament schedule by participating at the University of Denver Pioneers Team Camp.
This week, the Boys' Junior Elite team will travel to Syracuse, New York, July 4-8, to compete at the Syracuse University Summer Shootout. The tournament will provide elite teams from across North America with the opportunity to compete in front of college coaches in attendance from many of the NCAA's top lacrosse programs.
The Girls' Elite team will be in Boston, Massachusetts for The Northern RISE. The tourney will feature elite club teams from across the US.
The Boys Senior Elite team will wrap-up the summer season with a trip to Baltimore, Maryland, July 16-22 to compete in the nationally renowned Champ Camp.
Teams are selected to compete at Champ Camp by invitation only. Burnaby Mountain is the only program to be selected from Western Canada.
