The host association came away with a pair of championship banners at the 10th annual Seafair Minor Hockey-Sandman Hotel Ice Breaker Rep Tournament, held over the Thanksgiving Day Weekend.

This year's event attracted nearly 1,000 players, representing 56 teams from Oregon, Washington State, Vancouver Island, Okanagan and Metro Vancouver.

Seafair is pleased to welcome the Sandman Hotel on board as title sponsor.

The Seafair Islanders repeated as champions for the third time in the Bantam A1 Division thanks to a thrilling shootout win over Nanaimo in the gold medal game. The teams were tied at 6-6 at the end of regulation time and five minutes of four-on-four hockey couldn't determine a winner. That set the stage for Seafair goaltender Ty Taylor to come up big in the shootout, stopping all three Nanaimo attempts.

The Islanders had finished second in round-robin play and advanced to the final with an impressive 4-0 victory over previously unbeaten South Delta.

The Atom A1 championship game proved to be far less dramatic as Seafair avenged an earlier loss with a dominating 10-2 romp of the North Shore Winter Club.

It was a total team effort according to coach Shane Hohlweg with strong play from all three forward lines, while the defencemen were exceptional in moving the puck through the neutral zone. The hosts enjoyed a commanding 6-1 lead after one period and never looked back.

Tyler Horstmann paced the attack with four goals, while Mattias Hohlweg and Jordan Si each added pair.

Ethan Strik and Vincent Thrum also scored.

Koen MacInnes was solid in goal at the onset of the game, making key saves early.

The Islanders produced earlier round-robin wins over North Vancouver (70) and South Delta (7-0), before falling 4-2 to NSWC. A semi-final encounterwith South Delta proved to be a nail-biter with Seafair pulling out a 2-1 victory in overtime.

Hortstmann collected a pair of Game MVP awards, while Si, Hohlweg and Taylor were also recognized.

Seafair nearly added a third title as the Islanders came up just short in the Midget A1 final, falling 3-2 to North Delta.

The Islanders had earned a berth in the final with a big 2-0 victory over cross-town rival Richmond Minor. They enjoyed a 2-1 lead in the championship game before North Delta rallied for a pair of unanswered goals. Kyle Hoffman led the locals with a goal and an assist.

Seafair also reached the A2 final with the hosts falling 5-4 to Portland. Goal scorers for the Islanders included Owen Long, Jaden Bourne, Nicholas Jang and Kyle Hepburn.
