The wait for Air Attack Volleyball Club’s second provincial tier one boys title certainly wasn’t a long one.
A week after a historic win at the 15U tournament, the Richmond club’s 13U Gold team also reached the top of the podium.
Air Attack Gold completed a thrilling run in Abbotsford with a tough straight set win (27-25, 26-24) over the hometown Orangemen in Saturday night’s gold medal match.
The Richmond-based club showed plenty of character and grit en route to the championship, highlighted by a pair of thrilling come-from-behind playoff wins.
Air Attack defeated Burnaby’s Focus Inferno (21-25, 25-22, 15-13) in the quarter-finals then dug deep to do it again in the semi-finals over Victoria Black (15-25, 25-15, 17-15).
The playoffs began with the a straight set win over Air Attack Black (25-15, 25-13).
The boys opened play Friday night by splitting a pair of preliminary matches, defeating the Force from Surrey (25-15, 25-12) and falling to Langley’s Airborne (25-16, 20-25, 12-15).
The Air Attack Gold roster features: Andrew Armstrong, Ethan Chang, Hayden Deamer, Carlin Folkeringa, Isaac James, Darren Liu, Aidan Long, Andrew Orr, Tyler Tran and Nate Yee. The boys are coached by Daniel Wong.
Air Attack Black went on to fall to the Force (25-11, 26-24) in the Tier Two bronze medal match.
