The Richmond Girls Softball Association hosted a tournament this weekend at the 2006B Islanders took full advantage of being at home.
They thrived in familiar territory — taking on teams from throughout Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. The Islanders went undefeated in round-robin play with wins over Delta Inferno 2006 (8-6), Delta Inferno 2007 (13-0), Vancouver Wildcats (13-0) and Valley Venom 2006 (10-5).
The Venom put up a strong defensive game in the battle for gold but Richmond still prevailed 6-2 to cap a perfect weekend.
The team includes: Vanessa Chan, Ulani Cyr, Bella DeShaye, Laurel Forgeron, Samantha Jung, Kristin Law, Takara Orange, Kiyomi Tien, Makaela Parker, Demetra Trimis, Aika Wang and Madelyn Wong.
The coaching staff features: Johnny Wong (head coach), Adam Cyr, Dereck Griffin and Dana Trimis.
