The Richmond 2002B Islanders showcased their potential with a terrific run at a recent tournament in Maple Ridge.
The rep fastpitch team returned home with a silver medal — continuing its strong play this season.The girls have played great all season and, being the younger first-year team in the division, have produced plenty of “upsets" along the way. The weekend in Maple Ridge was no different.
The Islanders played seven games in total and all were against 2001 teams. They knocked off Coquitlam in the quarter-finals, then took out the hosts to advance to the championship game. The impressive showing ended with a loss to South Delta.
The team includes: Regan Gibson, Jen Lum, Sidney Lim, Anjali Cote, Sandy Yang, Hannah Channon, Cassidy Martin, Tayler Chislett-Lefor, Zoe Mcneill, Jamie Corbett, Angelica Symons, Cassidy Chen and Caitlin Bradley-Tse.
Richmond currently sits seventh in the 20-team Lower Mainland U16 Division with a solid 8-1-5 record — the best among the 2002 entries.
