15 Richmond teams remain in the hunt for Coastal Cup

A whopping 14 other city teams are still in the hunt as the quarter-final round of the cup playdowns takes place this weekend.

Richmond Youth Soccer Association's Select boys program is standing tall with five teams still the mix. The U18 and U16 United teams are both looking to add Coastal Cups to their league championships. The U18s host the North Vancouver Selects on Sunday (11 a.m.) while the U16s are on the field Saturday (1 p.m.) against North Coquitlam Both matches take place at High Boyd.

U15 United also has home field advantage in its match on Saturday (3 p.m.) against North Vancouver, while the U14s are on the road against Coquitlam Metro Ford. The U13s travel to South Surrey to take on the Delta Selects.

In girls' "A" cup competition, the U14 Richmond Synergy host Chilliwack on Sunday (1 p.m.) at Boyd, while the U14 Force and U16 Predators both have away matches against Semiahmoo.

In the Coastal "B" Cup competition, five Richmond teams remain in the mix.

Boys action, sees the U14 Surgo travel to Langley, while the U15 Titans and U18 Lightning are both up against the North Vancouver Fury.

The girls side, has the U15 Raiders battling Ladner and U17 Rockets up against Port Moody.

The semi-final round goes April 20-22 and the finals take place May 5-6 in Richmond.

Coastal Cup is the qualifying competition for the Provincial Cup Championships slated for July. The Boys and Girls "A" Cup will be hosted by Kamloops, while the Boys "B" Cup is taking place in Aldergrove. The Girls "B" Cup is being held in Kelowna.
