A 12-year-old golfer from Richmond is making quite an impression on the Maple Leaf Junior Tour.

Having just graduated from the Tour's mini-events a year ago, Alisha Lau captured the girls division at the latest Maple Leaf stop at Morgan Creek in South Surrey, cruising to a five stroke victory over her nearest rival who is 17. Lau finished at 1-over (74-73) on the par 73 course and has now been shortlisted to participate in the Callaway World Junior Championships.

"It feels kind of shocking to me because coming in to the tournament I wasn't really sure how I was going to play and I was kind of not sure how I would stack up against the older girls," said Lau. "The highlight for me was having fun and playing well."

Meanwhile, Richmond's Chris Crisologo managed a runner-up finish in the Boys 14-16 Division with pair of even par 72 rounds to place just one shot back of Kimberley's Jared du Toit.

The difference between first and second for Crisologo was du Toit managing a hole-on-one on the 16th during his second round.

Richmond's Alexander Kwok was the Mr Lube Long Drive Award winner in the Boys 14-16 Division.

The Maple Leaf Junior Tour's B.C. schedule continues at Swan-e-set Bay Resort in Pitt Meadows with the MJT Lindsay Kenney Classic May 5-6.
