Sun shines down on Canada Day __eventually

The sun finally broke out on Sunday, moments after the 67th Annual Steveston Salmon Festival parade ended. An estimated crowd of more than 8,000 people descended into the city's historic village to commemorate Canada's 145th birthday.

Accused rioter to appear in court

Another suspected Stanley Cup rioter pleaded not guilty to his charges on Thursday. Jonathan Wong, 18, of Richmond, is facing a charge of participating in a riot and break and enter.

Watch for mailbox thieves

The public is being asked to stay on the lookout after a spike in mail thefts. Richmond RCMP is asking for assistance in combating mail theft by asking the community to be aware of suspicious behaviour around communal mailboxes.

The ships will be docked at Imperial Landing, just east of No. 1 Road on the boardwalk. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 29 and 30 and from 12: 30 to 5 p.m. on July 1. Ship boarding is free, but check out www.richmond.
