Hold onto your hats: strong winds are expected in Richmond on Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Richmond and Metro Vancouver, with winds gusting up to 90 km/h.

Strong, southeast winds of 70 km/h gusting to 90 km/h are occurring across the Sunshine Coast and portions of East Vancouver Island near the Georgia Straight late Tuesday morning, according to Environment Canada, as a cold front sweeps across the sea.

Those winds will spread across the South Coast and into Metro Vancouver, however, they will subside in the afternoon as the cold front exits the area.

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage, according to Environment Canada.

The public is advised to continue monitoring alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
