Vancouver Whitecaps CEO Paul Barber will be speaking at the upcoming Richmond Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Barber will discuss business and the changing landscape. In light of the Vancouver Whitecaps several venue moves in the past year, Barber will talk about what it takes to launch a brand new major league sports franchise.

Barber joined the Whitecaps last March 2010 after spending five years as the executive director of one of Englands top soccer teams, the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club of the English Premier League.

In his new role as CEO of the Whitecaps, Barber brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the industry. A former commercial and marketing director of The Football Association in England, Barber was responsible for developing programs for marketing, communications, and commercial affairs, including broadcast rights of the England national team and The FA Cup - the largest domestic cup competition in world soccer. Barber was also a member of the England national team's official party that travelled to Japan and Korea for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and to the 2000 UEFA European Championship in Belgium and Holland.

Join the Richmond Chamber of Commerce for its monthly business lunch on Thursday, Sept. 29 at noon at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, Elmbridge room, 7551 Westminster Hwy.
