A man called Tibor Tusnady from White Rock has been named as the latest Lotto millionaire.

Tusnady, 63, was in the "smalllest room in the house" when he realized he had won $16.4 million in the BC Lotto draw on April 15 after matching all six numbers.

"I was in total shock. I didn't say anything. I finished watching TV with my spouse and didn't say anything. She fell asleep on the couch," said Tibor, a retired pharmacist, who said he's never once called in sick to work.

"We're dealing with my 97-year-old father who lives with us, so I just let my spouse sleep."

Tibor held on until the next afternoon before telling his spouse, who he has lived with for seven years.

"She may have asked me once or twice if I was OK (while they watched TV," he added.

"The next afternoon, I held her hand and told her."

Tusnady, who was born in Hungary and moved to Canada, via Ghana, in 1969, bought the ticket at the Esso station on Crescent Road in South Surrey.

He revealed his spouse didn't even know he played the lottery.

"I had to tell her," laughed Tusnady.

Born in Hungary until 10, lived in Ghana, moved to Canada in 1969.

He said he "obviously want to do lots of things but can't right now," due to the pandemic restrictions.

"Maybe stay in B.C. this summer, if we're allowed. When we're allowed to travel, would love to go to Argentina...flying at the front of the plane."
