English Language Learning: 4 p.m.
The next installment of the Richmond Public Library’s successful series dedicated to helping parents understand the school system begins Feb. 1. The first session will address how English Language Learning works in Richmond schools and the kind of support parents can expect for their children. Presented in partnership with Settlement Workers in Schools and Richmond School District 38, these parent information sessions take place at the Brighouse branch at 100 – 7700 Minoru Gate.

Scottish Tea at London Heritage Farm: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Join in for a Scottish tea to celebrate the heritage farm’s Scottish roots. Mrs. Henrietta London emigrated to Canada in 1886 at 16. London was a devout Presbyterian and held women’s circles and Sunday Mass in the farm’s house. The tea is $14 and includes a warm beverage, scone and home baked goodies.

Green Screen Special Effects with Kendlive: 10:30 a.m.
Explore the magic of photographic special effects and technology at the Richmond Public Library. Using open-source software, Kendlive, learn how to transport yourself to different backgrounds using the library's 12-foot green screen. This event is free, but requires registration. Writing Intensive Series: 7:00 p.m.
The Richmond Art Gallery’s Curator Nan Capogna leads a writing intensive series on gallery exhibition proposals for visual artists. This session presents an overview of the gallery system in the Lower Mainland and offers insight on how to prepare professional art submissions and proposals for exhibitions.
