The driver of this BMW SUV left Lansdowne Mall via the pedestrian exit then tried to enter a busy intersection at pedestrian crossing

A bizarre moment on the road in Richmond is creating a few laughs on social media.

The incident was filmed by someone on Alderbridge Way at No. 3 Road in Richmond at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The video, posted to Reddit, shows the driver of a white BMW SUV leaving the north-west corner of Lansdowne Shopping Centre’s parking lot – via the pedestrian exit.

The driver then proceeds to try to enter the intersection at Alderbridge and No. 3 Road against the flow of traffic, before apparently seeing the error of their ways.

I just cannot believe I saw this with my own eyes.

It’s only then that the driver reverses to underneath the “welcome” sign for pedestrians into Lansdowne.

And only after that do they then use the turn signal and safely re-enter the road eastbound on Alderbridge Way.

Needless to say, the manoeuvre sparked a few jokes online, with one Reddit user saying, “at least they used the turn signal,” while another said “the welcome sign is there, I don’t see the problem…”
