Snow geese have made their annual return to Richmond, turning green sports fields white.

In a video submitted by Richmond News reader, Kitty Tung, the flock of geese can be seen “dominating more than half the sports field” behind Quilchena elementary.

The geese seen in Richmond are known as the Fraser-Skagit flock and fly south from Siberia to spend the winter months in the marshes in southern B.C. and Washington State.

Most snow geese fly through the city during November before continuing to the Skagit Delta in Washington State, with a second wave of geese flying through late March.

More than 100,000 snow geese stay in the Fraser Delta every winter.
