Video: Law officers carry Special torch through Richmond

Annual event raises thousands of dollars for the Special Olympics BC

To the cheers of support from students and teachers of Cornerstone Christian Academy, the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run set off from a church parking lot at No. 5 and Blundell roads.

As the midday sun bounced off the asphalt, the 80 or so local law enforcement runners and athletes were led by the Special Olympics BC flame out onto No. 5 Road, en route to the RCMP detachment about three kilometres to the south.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is known around the world as an event which brings awareness of and attention to the Special Olympics BC and its athletes and has raised more than $3 million in B.C. since 1990.
