Smoke and fire were spotted coming from a car in the Terra Nova area of Richmond on Monday afternoon.

In a video posted by Reddit user natelamm, fire and smoke were seen coming from the hood of a white SUV while it was stopped at an intersection at No. 1 Road and Westminster Highway.

Firefighters with Richmond Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and put out the fire that was in the engine bay of a white Acura, said Al McGrath, deputy fire chief of Richmond Fire-Rescue.

He added passengers were safely out of the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

"It's important that people report any fire right aware such as car, barbecue and cigarette fires. Because of our very dry conditions, fire can spread quickly," said McGrath.

Richmond RCMP confirmed they were also called to the scene to help Richmond Fire-Rescue.

While there were onlookers, one Reddit user questioned why "people were still walking towards" the car despite it being on fire.
