Update: Two people taken to hospital after three-car collision near school crosswalk in Richmond

Early reports suggest three vehicles were involved at a crosswalk close to William Bridge elementary in south Richmond

Two people have been taken to hospital after a three-car crash near an elementary school in Richmond this afternoon.

Emergency services were called just before 2 p.m. to the crosswalk at the intersection of Leonard and Ryan roads, just 100 yards or so from William Bridge elementary.

Both the RCMP and the BC Ambulance Service attended although it’s unclear if the injured people were adults or children.

There were initial reports from someone near the scene – close to Steveston Highway and No. 3 Road – that two young pedestrians were victims in the collision.

However, a spokesperson for the ambulance service said no pedestrians were hurt and two people were taken to hospital with “with non life-threatening injuries.”

Richmond RCMP said the incident was initially reported to them as a pedestrian-related collision before being amended.
