Richmond Mounties investigating a report of shots heard during the day on Tuesday in the area of Cambie and Shell roads have found no evidence of gunfire.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Dec. 1, Richmond RCMP responded to the area to investigate a report of two males sitting in an open area north east of the intersection.

A dark coloured vehicle reportedly drove toward the males and shots were heard. Both males and the vehicle fled the scene in different directions.

Multiple officers swarmed the area and combed the scene along with a K9 unit from the Police Dog Service.

Police searched for any alleged victims, suspects and evidence that shots were, in fact, fired, but found nothing at the scene.

“We have several potential witnesses to speak to. This investigation is in the very early stages,” said Richmond RCMP’s Cpl. Dennis Hwang earlier in the week.
