Undeclared egg in sweet rice pancake products prompts recall across Canada

One report of a reaction prompted a recall of the products.

A brand of sweet rice pancake products was recalled due to undeclared egg on the label.

Health Canada is warning people with allergies to eggs to not consume the Wang Korea brand pancakes, which were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec.

A consumer reported after having a reaction to the product, said the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in a statement.

Only one reported reaction associated with the products were reported so far.

There are four recalled products associated with the brand:

  • Green Tea Flavor Sweet Rice Pancake (480 g)  SKU 087703156494
  • Green Tea Flavor Sweet Rice Pancake (180 g) SKU 087703154087
  • Sweet Rice Pancake (480 g) SKU  087703156470
  • Sweet Rice Pancake (180 g) SKU 087703153233

What consumers should do

Those who have the recalled products at home should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

Do not consume the products if you have an allergy to eggs.

“The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing the recalled products from the marketplace,” reads the statement.
