IHIT is asking for information from Thursday night around London Sports Field and Rocky View Playground.

A 46-year-old father and his 13-year-old son were found murdered in Richmond on Thursday night in what appears to be a targeted attack, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

Just after 10:30 p.m., Richmond RCMP were called to the 6200-block of Goldsmith Drive, near No. 2 and Williams roads, for a report of some suspicious circumstances.

Upon arrival, RCMP officers found two dead individuals inside a home.

IHIT said the father and son lived in the home they were killed in.

The double murder happened near Rocky View Playground and the London Sports Field, and police are appealing to the public for information.

"We are asking anyone who may have observed anything suspicious in the area of the Rocky View Playground or the adjoining pathways between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 to contact IHIT," said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT.  "Also, if you were driving or parked in the area and have dash-camera footage, please contact IHIT immediately."

IHIT said, while the double-murder looks targeted, they are still trying to determine the motivation.
