Whether or not you’re a professional yogi or if you’ve just wanted to try yoga for the first time, one Richmond theatre is offering free yoga classes for all levels in a unique setting.
For the next four Wednesdays in January, Gateway Theatre is hosting free hatha yoga classes in its lobby to promote its upcoming production, Yoga Play.
Yoga Play, running from Feb. 7 to 16, is a contemporary comedy centering on the story of Joan, who has been hired to stabilize a yoga apparel giant after its CEO is brought down by a fat-shaming scandal. According to Gateway Theatre, the satirical production “asks what it takes to find authenticity in a world determined to sell enlightenment.”
To participate in the yoga class, swing by the theatre on Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30 for a one hour class starting at 8:45 a.m. The class, led by Richmond-based Perfect Hearts Yoga, is suitable for all levels and requires participants to pre-register and to bring a mat.
“Take advantage of this opportunity to practice yoga in a unique setting and possibly with some of the cast members,” says a statement from the theatre.
