Five people, including a Richmond RCMP officer, were injured on Monday night in a crash at No. 4 and Williams roads.
The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIOBC) is now investigating the accident.
According to RCMP E Division, a Richmond RCMP officer was responding in a marked police vehicle with lights and sirens to a call to help another police officer around 9:12 p.m. on July 7 when a collision occurred with a truck.
The collision caused the truck to hit two pedestrians and one resident on a property in the area.
All five individuals, including the RCMP officer, were taken to hospital for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, senior media relations officer for RCMP E Division.
Four ambulances with primary care and one with advanced care paramedics were called to the scene, according to Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites in an email to the Richmond News.
"Four patients were transported to (the) hospital in stable condition and one patient was transported to the hospital in serious condition,” said Twaites.
IIOBC is attending the scene to investigate the police actions in the incident and has the area cordoned off.
The IIOBC investigates "incidents of death or serious harm that may have been the result of the actions or inactions of a police officer, whether on or off duty."
No further information will be released by police while the investigation is underway.
