The annual Herring Sale in Richmond raises thousands of dollars for kids fighting cancer

The 11th annual herring sale in Steveston has been announced for Saturday, Jan. 15.

The event, organized by charity Fishermen Helping Kids With Cancer, raises thousands of dollars every year for kids being treated for cancer.

Tickets, priced $20 for a 20 pound bag of fresh herring will be sold online and the pick-up will be via a COVID-safe drive-thru, where volunteers will load the herring into people’s cars.

As a bonus, customers will receive one hake for each bag of herring purchased (until supplies last).

As usual, the B.C. fishing industry pays all costs for the herring sale and 100 per cent of the money goes to kids being treated for cancer at BC Children's Hospital.

The sale is being held at Steveston Harbour Authority, 12740 Trites Rd. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
