Richmond’s annual Raptor Festival takes place Sunday at Terra Nova Park.
People of all ages can see birds of prey, such as owls and hawks, in action as their handlers from the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (O.W.L.) interpret their behaviour.
Visitors will have opportunities to see the birds eye-to-eye and watch them fly around the park.
The free event is part educational as O.W.L will provide insight into the challenges these birds face in the wild.
Flight demonstrations take place at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
O.W.L will present a talk at 12:30 p.m., while the Hancock Wildlife Foundation will deliver a presentation, "Eagles, Salmon and More!" at 2:30 p.m.
This popular event is hosted by the City of Richmond and sponsored by the Vancouver International Airport Authority and the Richmond Nature Park Society.
Terra Nova Rural Park is located at 2631 Westminster Highway. Follow the signs from No.1 Road and Westminster Highway. There is no parking on site as it’s pedestrian access only, according to the city.
