Structure fire in Richmond townhouse complex on Monday night

No injuries were reported, says Richmond Fire-Rescue.

A structure fire was reported at Abercrombie Drive on Monday night.

Large volumes of smoke were spotted coming from a townhouse complex in Richmond city centre on Monday night.

Richmond Fire-Rescue attended to a report of a structure fire on Abercrombie Drive shortly after 8 p.m. on May 13, according to Grant Wyenberg, Richmond Fire-Rescue assistant deputy chief.

"Large volumes of smoke" were seen coming from the second-floor soffit area of a row of townhouses, he added.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Staff are currently on scene investigating the fire and the cause is not known at this time, Wyenberg told the News.
