A Steveston thrift store has once more re-purposed its front window display to pay tribute to someone or something famous.
The SOS Children’s Village store on Moncton Street has, in the past, paid homage to the Queen, Vancouver Canucks, Easter, the pandemic and poet Robert Burns.
This week, however, the popular charity shop turned its attention to the sad passing last week of Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis.
Store manager Yasmin Tang and her staff have decorated the window with the likes of three brand-new Fender guitars, as well as an Elvis blanket, magazines, T-shirts and canvasses.
By pure coincidence, Tang has just watched a movie involving Lisa Marie last week, just before her death.
“I was so touched by the performance and the story. I thought it was a great movie and acting,” said Tang.
“And then I heard Lisa passed away two days after the Golden Globe Awards. It immediately triggered my plan of the first music window since I have three Fender guitars to display.
“My husband was helping with my window on Friday night, and he saw the Elvis blanket, so we came up the theme in memory of Lisa.”
