Steveston is not only a pretty little place to visit, it also boasts an award-winning harbour.

The harbours general manager, Bob Baziuk, received the national Small Craft Harbours Prix dExcellence award in the individual commitment category.

Baziuk was presented with the award Wednesday from Randy Kamp, parliamentary secretary to the Hon. Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am pleased to recognize Mr. Bob Baziuk for his significant contribution to Steveston Harbour and the local community, Kamp said in a press release.

Mr. Baziuk is an excellent example of the passion and work ethic that our harbour authority partners demonstrate every day, in fishing communities across the country.

The award recognizes Baziuks extraordinary dedication to the ongoing success of both Steveston Harbour and the Small Craft Harbours Program. Through his involvement in local charities and fundraisers, Baziuk has helped the Steveston Harbour Authority make a difference in the local community. The Prix dExcellence is awarded annually to celebrate the exemplary contributions made by harbour authorities to small craft harbours across Canada.
