Certain areas of Richmond experienced snowfall that ended as fast as it started this afternoon.

The appearance of snow should be no surprise to residents after Environment Canada announced that cold Arctic air would be moving throughout B.C. in a special weather statement on Sunday.

Several Richmondites took to social media to share their snow and hail experience.

One community member stated in a Twitter post that they were just “trying to get home” and “not have a headache” from the hail.

According to Environment Canada data, the last time Vancouver International Airport recorded a temperature of -10C or colder was in 2008. The temperature was recorded as -10.9C on Dec. 19, 2008.
