This weekend, Save-On-Foods is launching an inaugural three-day campaign to raise funds for local food banks through sales of Western Family products.
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 25 per cent of net proceeds from Western Family products will be donated to food banks, up to $250,000.
"We are so excited to partner with Western Family and our amazing customers to support families in our communities by providing them with access to a variety of nutritious foods through their local food banks,” said Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones.
“I could not be more proud of the way our stores and our customers rally to give back to their communities, and I know together, we will make a big difference in the lives of our neighbours who need it most.”
Richmond’s two Save-On-Foods locations as well as its two Price Smart locations will be participating, as will all Save-On and Price Smart locations in Western Canada.
“Western Family is all about local, and we’re the number one supporter of local producers, manufacturers and vendors in Western Canada,” said Western Family general manager Ken Clark.
“From the ingredients we use in our products to our team of passionate product developers, we are committed to doing our part to support Western Canadians. Share It Forward is a fantastic opportunity for Western Family to give back to organizations and families who need our support.”
The company’s goal is to keep donations in the same communities they were raised.
“We are so thankful for the donations that Save-On-Foods provides to food banks all across British Columbia – and the rest of Western Canada,” said Laura Lansink, executive director of Foodbanks BC, adding that approximately 100,000 B.C. residents “rely on the food banks in their communities every single month.”
