Safeway employee in Richmond tests positive for COVID

An employee at Safeway on No. 1 Road has tested positive for COVID

An employee at a Safeway in Richmond has tested positive for COVID, according to its parent company Sobeys.

The company announced on the weekend that an employee at Safeway’s Seafair Shopping Centre location on No. 1 and Francis roads, had the virus.

Sobeys said the employee last worked at the store on Thursday, January 7.

The Richmond News also reported on the weekend that an employee at a Richmond Shoppers Drug Mart had tested positive for COVID-19.

Loblaw Companies Ltd., the chain’s parent company, made the announcement on its website.

The employee was reported to have last worked on Jan. 7.

This is the fourth case of exposures to the coronavirus at the Richmond Centre location with the first being in late November, and the second and third in December of last year.
