The service centre at 8111 Granville Avenue, opened by non-profit S.U.C.C.E.S.S. last December, now has a name.

In recognition of the long-term support from active community philanthropist and patron of the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Foundation Johnny Fong, the centre will be named after him.

Fong has been offering financial support to the organization since 1994, according to Winnie Tam, director of strategic communications and marketing at S.U.C.C.E.S.S.

“In the past 45 years, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. has served as a bridge for countless newcomers to Canada,” said Fong at the naming ceremony last Saturday.

“It’s a cause in which I deeply believe and one that I have supported for more than 20 years.

"I feel great pride to give back to the community in this way, and I hope that others will join me in supporting S.U.C.C.E.S.S.”

The S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Johnny Fong Social Services Centre is located on the ground floor of Storeys, a 129-unit affordable housing development with on-site supportive services.

There are various services offered at the centre, including English classes, citizenship preparation classes and Zumba. It also has an auditorium to hold community events.
