Tourism Richmond has launched a free shuttle bus to connect visitors to three popular local destinations.

Starting on Saturday, June 15, the Discovery Shuttle will run weekends and holidays until Sept. 2.

The bus will run from Lansdowne Canada Line station to Britannia Heritage Shipyards, with stops at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, Olympic Oval and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in between.

The first bus leaves Lansdowne at 9:30 a.m. and the last bus to leave Britannia will be 5:05 p.m.

The shuttle arrived through a partnership with Tourism Richmond, the City of Richmond and the Richmond Hotel Association.

“I believe the Richmond Discovery Shuttle bridges many gaps. This partnership is a great example of organizations coming together to grow our visitor economy,” said Nancy Small, Tourism Richmond’s CEO.

“Our Visitor Volume Study has shown that the more activities a tourist does in our city, the more they loved Richmond. Let’s get them exploring.”

The growing number of tourists could also boost the local economy, according to Mayor Malcolm Brodie.

“More and more visitors are discovering our local tourist attractions, which helps create jobs… while also adding to community vibrancy. This shuttle will help even more people explore all that Richmond has to offer,” added Brodie.
