After a beautiful weekend, Richmond is in for a lot more sun this week.

According to Environment Canada, Richmondites can expect several days of sun, with temperatures hitting the double digits by next weekend.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be mainly sunny, with high temperatures around 5 and 6 C.

Thursday may see some rain and slightly cooler temperatures, but by Friday, the sun is expected to return and the weather should continue to warm up through Sunday, which is expected to have highs of 10 C.

This warmer weather comes after the coldest February on record in Metro Vancouver. According to Environment Canada meteorologist Matt MacDonald, February usually has around seven days of double-digit temperatures in February. This past month, however, did not see a single day about 10 degrees.

The average temperature for this past February was 0.4 C, with the previous record – from 1989 – was 0.8 C.
