Richmondite Jackie Lee, the BC United candidate in Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, has a background in IT and business.

The premier has called two by-elections and one, although not in Richmond, features a Richmond resident.

Jackie Lee is running as the BC United - formerly BC Liberal - candidate in Vancouver-Mount Pleasant.

B.C. Premier David Eby announced by-elections for Langford-Juan de Fuca and Vancouver-Mount Pleasant on Saturday, scheduled for June 24.

Lee's biography on the BC United campaign page notes he is raising his 14-year-old son in Richmond, but also highlights his connections to Mount Pleasant.

He will be running against the BC NDP candidate Joan Phillip.

Lee's biography states he's devoted to "family values and community building," and that he's collaborated with the Vancouver Police Department "to make Chinatown safer and cleaner."

Phillip is Indigenous and has worked as a youth counsellor and lands manager for the Penticton First Nation.

Lee's background is in IT and business administration.

The Langford-Juan de Fuca seat was vacated by long-time B.C. premier John Horgan, and Melanie Mark was the BC NDP MLA in Vancouver-Mount Pleasant until she stepped down earlier this year.
