The annual Terry Fox Run is almost upon us once again and organizers are hoping to surpass last year’s fundraising total.

This year, however, the run – on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. (registration opens at 9 a.m.) at Garry Point Park – will be in-person for the first time since the pandemic struck.

Last year, the virtual event raised an impressive $14,736.39.

Event organizer Howard Jampolsky said they have had some volunteers returning from previous years but “any new volunteers are most welcome.”

Every year the run in honour of Terry Fox raises money for cancer research.

While running on his Marathon of Hope, Fox said, “Nobody is ever going to call me a quitter.”

This year, event organizers across the country are encouraging Canadians to find inspiration from Fox’s perseverance and grit, whether they are walking, jogging, running or biking or wheeling.

Register for the Richmond run and raise funds by going to Terryfox.org.
