Three Richmond political slates were fined $500 each for missing the Elections BC filing deadline.
Elections BC listed Richmond Citizens Association (RCA), Richmond Community Coalition’s (RCC) council candidates’ group, and the RCC’s school trustee group.
“The RCA report was delayed due to personal circumstances of a valued team member of our organization,” the electoral organization said in a statement. “We are working to submit our report as soon as possible while being respectful of their circumstances.”
RCA candidates in the October election were Kelly Greene and Harold Steves, who were elected to council, as well as Judie Schneider and Jack Trovato.
The RCC didn’t respond to inquiries from the Richmond News.
Chak Au was the only successful candidate running under the RCC banner. The party didn’t have any successful trustee candidates.
Richmond First, which endorsed six candidates, raised $198,010 in campaign funds and spent $116,488. RITE Richmond, raised $46,061 and spent $39,388, running four candidates.
Couns. Bill McNulty and Linda McPhail were elected under the Richmond First banner and Carol Day and Michael Wolfe were part of the RITE Richmond slate.
Donations to both parties were all from individuals as per the new campaign financing rules that came into effect in October 2017.
Alexa Loo ran independently, and raised $39,550 for her campaign, all from individual donors. Donors included MLAs Linda Reid and John Yap, who each gave $200.
