Richmond youths and young adults can now apply to help shape youth policies in the city.

Richmond City Council is recruiting a group of enthusiastic Richmond youths and young adults to help shape policies impacting their lives.

The new Richmond Youth Advisory Committee is a volunteer opportunity for participants to provide input for city council for plans, programs and services important to youth, such as the implementation of the city's 2022 to 2032 youth strategy.

It also supports youth development and civic leadership.

The committee will be made up of 15 volunteer members including four to five individuals between 13 and 18 years old and four to five individuals in the 19 to 24 years old bracket.

There will also be five organization representatives and one individual older than 24 who either plays a significant role or is committed to positive youth development.

The city is also recruiting a voluntary youth representative aged 16 to 24 for the Child Care Development Advisory Committee, which advises city council on planning, development and support of affordable and accessible child care.

Interested applicants can submit an online application and resume via richmond.ca/Advisory and the deadline is 5 p.m. on Monday, March 4.
