Richmond resident David Gurney is all smiles and little wonder – his bank balance has just gotten $100,000 heavier.

Gurney won the cash on a Bingo Grand Scratch & Win ticket he bought recently at Pharmasave on N. 3 Road.

He didn’t realize how much he’d won until, a little while later, he went into a gas station to check the ticket.

“I went inside thinking I had only won $40 and couldn’t believe it when I saw I won $100,000,” he said.

“I told my companion and she didn’t believe me. There was dead silence on the phone at first.”

Gurney said he will celebrate with a bottle of champagne and plans to donate some of the winnings to charity.
