A Richmond teenager has won a gold medal at the Jump Canada National Finals in Ontario.

Lily Elliot took the top spot at the recent show jumping championships at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.

Over the course of this past year, Lily - an honours grad from McNair secondary in the summer - competed at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley to qualify for regional finals for British Columbia.

She duly won her regional finals, which qualified her for the national finals in Ontario, where she and her 13-year-old horse, Carvill VA (known as banana-loving “Carl” at his stable), jumped for fun to take the gold.

Lily trains out of Imperial Equestrian in Delta, under the tutelage of Jenna Brownjohn and Alicia Gadban.
