Licensed preschool and out-of-school care at community centres in Richmond will soon be up-and-running with an emphasis on outdoor activities.

The City of Richmond is working with community centre associations to restart child care to align with the resumption of school.

Out-of-school care will start on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and preschool classes will launch on Sept. 21.

In addition to focusing on outdoor activities, children in the programs will be in smaller learning groups where possible.

Cleaning protocols at the facilities have been enhanced and staff have been trained in COVID-19-related health and safety.

Anyone interested in registering their children in these programs should contact the coordinator of the program at the respective community centre.

Community centres were shut down in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
