Police are asking for information after a man was viciously assaulted in broad daylight in the centre of Richmond.

Shortly after 5 p.m. last Thursday, April 21, Richmond RCMP officers were called to the 7,000 block of Minoru Boulevard – between Granville Avenue and Blundell Road - for a report of a male being assaulted.

It’s alleged that as many as three assailants attacked the victim, a 20-year-old Vancouver man who is known to police, and then fled in a vehicle.

The suspects are all described as male, possibly in their early to mid-twenties. Police say no other descriptions are available at this time.

The victim was taken to hospital suffering from multiple injuries, including a laceration to the head and a broken arm. It’s believed that the victim will make a full recovery.

“We believe that this was a targeted attack,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang.

“Officers from our Serious Crimes Unit are involved in this active and ongoing investigation.

“We were quite worried for the victim, as he was in and out of consciousness when we arrived. He is very lucky to be alive.

“We are looking for any information that can help us find those who are responsible for this horrific attack.”
