It’s not a holiday wish list you’d want to be on, but Richmond RCMP is hoping it becomes as popular as it is notorious.

The RCMP’s Richmond detachment has presented its “8 Most Wanted Persons” list or, as the police call it, their “Lucky 8.”

“These individuals have outstanding warrants out for their arrest and have been active in our community,” said Cpl. Dennis Hwang.

“Their sum total of activities would most certainly reserve their place on Santa’s Naughty List.

“Please help us bring balance to the Force and assist us in their capture.”

If anyone should spot any of these individuals, police ask that you don’t approach them, but contact Richmond RCMP or Crime Stoppers as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Richmond Mounties from the Prolific Offender Suppression Team (POST) and 15 loss prevention officers teamed for the detachment’s annual holiday blitz.

Together, they focused their collective eyes on businesses along the No. 3 Road corridor, looking for offenders committing retail theft.

Over the course of two days, 12 thieves were caught, one prohibited driver was caught twice, another suspect was caught breaking into a vehicle and two suspects were arrested on outstanding warrants.

The most common items that were stolen this year included: Coats, hoodies, sweaters, personal electronics, cologne/perfume, alcohol and cosmetics.

“We are very pleased with the successful partnerships we have forged with loss prevention officers working in Richmond and others throughout the province,” said Cpl. Ray Basi, of the Richmond RCMP POST team.

“This blitz is our fifth annual event, a small milestone. Retail theft hurts local businesses and owners.

“We caution people to be wary of products being sold online through such popular websites such as Craigslist, Kijiji, or Facebook as they may not have been obtained via legitimate means.”
