RCMP investigating gun shots fired in Richmond

Shots were fired in Richmond’s Hamilton neighbourhood.

A residential neighbourhood in East Richmond has been taped off after shots were fired on Thursday afternoon.

Richmond RCMP officers responded to reports of gun shots being heard at Fraserbank Place in the Hamilton neighbourhood shortly after 2 p.m.

Cpl. Dennis Hwang, media spokesperson for the Richmond RCMP, said they believe the incident was a targeted shooting and the RCMP crime unit is taking over the case.

"A dark coloured pickup truck was observed fleeing the scene and investigators have located an abandoned vehicle suspected of being involved in the incident in Surrey," said Hwang.

"Some areas will have limited access as investigators search for other evidentiary materials."

No injuries were reported.
