Richmond Public Library will be hosting a virtual hiring conference next week.

Richmond Public Library wants to help connect job seekers with potential employers.

The library (RPL) is partnering with WorkBC Employment Services to host a four-day, free virtual hiring conference from June 22 to 25.

The conference, which will take place online from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, will feature three workshops and nine hiring events, and will help participants build career skills.

Stephanie Vokey, RPL's coordinator of marketing and public relations, said the event will benefit a wide range of people, including those just starting their career search or looking to re-enter the workforce after a break, people who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, newcomers to Canada, people who are changing careers or those who have completed new academic or skills training programs during the pandemic.

On the first day of the conference, participants will learn about the library’s free employment resources, how to prepare for a virtual hiring event and resume-writing tips.

During the remaining three days of the conference, participants will be able to connect with employers, all of whom are looking to fill specific vacancies, according to Vokey.

Nine Lower Mainland employers will be at the virtual conference: FedEx Express Canada, Que Pasa, Great Little Box Company, Conagra Brands, Amazon, Intercity Packers, Raymond James, Compass Group and Norsat International.

More details about the conference, including specific job vacancies and registration information, can be found on RPL’s website.
