A lavender farm in Richmond is preparing to welcome visitors for the first time this spring.

If you are looking for a great way to spend a day outside without crowds, Lavenderland, a lavender field located on Steveston Highway, might be the perfect place.

Lavenderland is scheduled to open to the public in June, 2021.

The farm will feature at least four kinds of lavenders, SuperBlue lavender, melissa lavender and French lavender.

Michelle Wu, manager of Lavenderland, told the Richmond News that it took her and her partner five years to turn this field into a lavender farm. Initially, they planned to open in 2020, but the pandemic forced them to postpone a year.

“Just imagine how calming it will be to stand in waves of purple flowers and breathing in the relaxing and soothing scents,” said Wu.

Although Lavenderland hasn’t officially opened yet, some wedding couples have been given a “sneak peek” of the farm.

“We hope more people will come in this year to find peace in times of chaos, to be able to have fun together with family members and dream of a better future,” said Wu.

Lavenderland is located at 8460 Steveston Hwy. in Richmond. Admission will be $19 for adults and $12 for children under 18. There is no admission fee for children aged three and younger.
